Founded on April 22, 1899 in Karlsruhe the club is engaged with purposes and duties as determined in the statues since over 100 years now.
According to the statutes, the task of the club and its members is breeding of German Shepherd Dogs. The target is a dog with the predisposition for high performance, well-balanced (with strong nerves) in terms of character, self confident, absolutely natural and (except for a stimulatedsituation) good-natured as well as attentive and willing to please.
Within the framework of this task the club and its regional partitions (regional and local groups) regulary organize events in the form of performance trials and conformation shows.
In our about 2.000 local groups which are consolidated in 19 regional groups you receive assistance, help and clarification in questions regarding breeding and training locally.
The Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde (SV) e.V. is sustaining member of the "Deutsche Tierschutzbund" (German Humane Society) and the Bund gegen den Missbrauch der Tiere (League against abuse of animals).
Place of juridiction of the club is Augsburg.
